The operation involves making an incision in the under arm for a notable length, often from above the elbow to the axilla. Although this is a long scar, the effects on the patient’s confidence and ability to now wear sleeveless tops and consequent benefits far outweigh the scaring. 

The procedure is performed under General Anaesthetic with an overnight stay and in some cases can be performed under Local Anaesthetic with sedation.
