Bridgework

Bridgework offers a permanent solution for replacing missing teeth.

A dental bridge uses the teeth adjacent to the gap to support the false bridge tooth. Conventional bridgework involves cutting down the teeth adjacent to the gap and can be quite destructive.

It is only indicated in selected cases when the teeth may be heavily filled or broken down. Adhesive (sticky) bridges are far more conservative.

A metal (or in some cases a tooth-coloured) wing is bonded onto the tooth adjacent to the gap and supports the false tooth. These restorations are only suitable for situations where there are small spaces and the bite is favourable. A full dental assessment is an essential part of bridge treatment.
