Simon Wharton

Mr WhartonSimon Wharton has been a Consultant for nearly four years, most of this time in Devon during which time he had a varied and increasingly successful practice. His philosophy is to be honest and up front with patients in terms of what he feels can be achieved and the expected outcome. His aim is always for a happy patient.

He was born and grew up in Birmingham. After school he completed a Hons degree in Anatomy and was head hunted to teach at Southampton University. He completed his MPhil in 1988 and entered Southampton Medical School. Most of his HO and SHO jobs were on the south coast. He returned to Birmingham for his SPR rotation in 1998. He was a Consultant in Plymouth for nearly 4 years, all of this time as Clinical Lead for Paediatric Plastic Surgery and over 2 years as Clinical Lead for Skin Oncology. He has now returned permanently to Birmingham. He is now Consultant Adult and Paediatric Plastic Surgeon and Paediatric plastics clinical lead at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

 

His main interests are Skin cancer, Cosmetic surgery (including breast reduction and augmentation, mastopexy, abdominoplasty and prominent ear correction), paediatric plastic surgery and the treatment of vascular lesions including laser and IPL therapy.

 

He is married with a son and a daughter and his family is particularly important to him. His son has special needs giving him a rather different outlook on life. He particularly enjoys creating bone jewellery
