Hydrafacial vs Obagi Radiance Peel
Do you ever think “I should be doing more to look after my skin”? Then keep reading, The Westbourne Centre is here to help!
It’s never too late to start a proper skin care regime and there are lots of options for all different skin types and ages. But with so many advanced treatments and products on offer, “where do I begin?!”.
Here at the Westbourne Centre we do have a few options for a number of skin complaints but if you’re looking to rejuvenate, revitalise and refresh your skin, there are two main treatments we’d recommend: the Hydrafacial and Obagi Radiance peel.
Let’s start with the Hydrafacial, our latest skin rejuvenation technology. The Hydrafacial is more clinical than a typical spa facial and combines 7 unique processes. It is non-irritating, pain free and causes no down time from peeling, redness or dryness, in fact, it’s quite the opposite, leaving your face soft, full of moisture and plumped up. The treatment starts with lymphatic drainage, detoxifying the skin and improving the blood flow around the face. It then moves on to a cleanse and exfoliation to remove surface dirt and dead skin cells. Using different tips, serums are pushed through the pores to deep cleanse and purge out any oil and grime, this is called ‘extraction’. This gives us a great base to push through the Glycolic peel and Hyaluronic Acid which help break down imperfections such as pigmentation, and help the skin retain moisture by strengthening the outer layers of the skin. We then use LED light therapy: Red light is used for ageing skin for the stimulation of collagen and blue light is used to kill the bacteria in oily, problematic skin. All of the ingredients that are infused into the skin can last up to 4 weeks, and usually by then you will know your next one is due! Whether you commit to regular treatment or just enjoy a one-off for special occasions, the Hydrafacial is beneficial for everyone and the results are instant. The Hydrafacial has become a ‘must have’ for A-List celebrities before red-carpet appearances. Obviously with regular treatments, you will start to notice more long lasting effects and the overall improvement of your skin’s condition.
So what about the Obagi Blue Radiance peel? This treatment can improve your skin’s look, texture, and feel in a matter of minutes. It’s great for sun-damaged, ageing, dull, dry, oily skin or just a general booster. It contains a unique blend of acids to provide an effective peel and is great for people wanting that tighter, smoother, more radiant look to their skin. The face is cleansed and prepped then the peel is applied, and for patients wanting a deeper peel, a second layer can be applied. The peel is only left on for 10-12 minutes then removed, with moisturiser and SPF 50 then applied. Your face will be feeling instantly smooth and revitalized. Although there is minimal downtime following this peel, you may experience slight redness, and peeling should be expected by the third day. Once these dead skin cells have exfoliated you will have clearer, tighter and brighter looking skin.
“Well they both sound amazing! How do I choose?!” Fear not! There is another option: for patients wanting a bit of both treatments, there is an approved protocol for this. We use one layer of the Obagi Blue Radiance Peel then neutralise and finish with the last step of the Hydrafacial using hyaluronic acid and the gently tip.
For all these treatments it is beneficial to have them regularly every four weeks .We can also together a package for deeper anti-ageing/pigment/rejuvenation treatments and we’d advise a course of 3-6 treatments at 2 week intervals, and then maintaining treatments every 4-6 weeks thereafter.
Here at The Westbourne, both Louise and Leisha are firm believers in combined treatment programs alternating between the HydraFacial and the Obagi Radiance Peel every 4-6 weeks. This method has effective and proven results leaving the skin feel refreshed and rejuvenated.
However, all treatments can be tailor-made for each individual’s needs. We offer free skin consultations for all patients so we can advise and discuss the most suitable options to address your concerns (and budget!) giving you confidence in the treatments you opt for.
