The skin care product you must have in your beauty regime...
Giorgina Szirtes, our skin care specialist, talks about why a retinol should be an essential product in your skincare regime…
“I’m hearing a lot more people talking about retinols at the moment (and rightly so!); on the TV, in beauty magazines and many of my clients are asking me about it when they come for treatments.
Whilst it’s nothing new (I’ve been raving about them for some time!), it seems to be in the forefront of beauty chatter at the moment so I thought I’d take the opportunity to tell you a little bit more about my thoughts on retinols and the AlumierMD product I’m currently using…
Retinol is a Vitamin A derivative, which according to many studies is the number one ingredient for slowing down, and even reversing, the common signs of ageing. It has an impressive list of credentials, such as being clinically proven to stimulate the body’s production of collagen and strengthen it to stop the collagen from being broken down. This leads to firmer, stronger and plumper skin (put simply, reducing those pesky fine lines and wrinkles). It also speeds up cell turnover, helping you achieve a smoother, more radiant and even complexion.
As well as the anti-ageing benefits, this formula also targets acne-prone skin, minimizes pore size appearance and it can also stop the process which makes pigment in the skin, reducing hyper pigmentation.
So, as you can see, I would recommend retinols for all skin types!
So what’s the catch? Well, with such a potent active ingredient it takes time for your skin to adjust. However, unlike many other retinols, the AlumierMD product is microencapsulated, using cutting-edge technology to allow for a gradual release into the skin helping to keep the skin calm, and get the ingredients to the deeper layers of the skin where it is needed in order to be most effective.
You should start to notice a difference after four weeks of using retinol, but significant skin changes usually take up to three months.
I advise clients to apply 1-2 pumps to the face and neck after nightly cleansing and before moisturising. If you’re new to retinol, we recommend just using it once or twice a week in the beginning and then gradually increasing to nightly as the skin adjusts.
Don’t just take my word for it though, come and see me for a free consultation (call 0121 456 0897 to book your appointment) and we’ll be able to advise what would work best for your unique skin type.
Look forward to seeing you soon!”
