We have three exciting opportunities to join our expanding team here at The Westbourne Centre in Birmingham. 


(1) Theatre Administrator 

This role will work as part of both the theatre team and the business admin team to support the high standard of patient care delivered in our theatres. The administrative support tasks will include, but are not limited to: 
- Management of stock, including ordering, returns and stock take. 
- Liaising with consultants regarding their lists, equipment and any other assistance they may require. 
- Liaising with patients to ensure their visit runs as smoothly as possible. 
- Theatre diary management, including booking and coordination of theatre lists. 
- General administrative support for the day to day running of the theatre and associated processes. 

Essential skills and experience:
- Experience working in a healthcare setting.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.
- Good IT skills and knowledge including experience in the use of Microsoft applications and databases.
- Ability to work under pressure, sometimes to short deadlines.
- Assistance in supporting with health and safety, clinical governance and team meetings.
- Excellent customer service skills, with professional and empathetic telephone manner.
- Well organised, conscientious and reliable, focused on attention to detail.
- Excited by the challenge of working in a busy and progressive theatre department in a job role that will evolve as the business continues to grow.
- Good commercial awareness.

(2) Scrub Nurse/ODP

The theatre department at The Westbourne Centre is expanding with more consultants joining the team and using the facilities. Candidates must have experience as a Theatre/scrub practitioner and Ophthalmic experience is desirable. This role is vital to the team and will help to ensure that efficient and individualised high quality patient care is offered to our whole patient group.

The candidate must have proven current clinical NHS and/or independent sector experience in a range of surgical specialities including (but not limited to) Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics (upper and lower limb), General and Vascular Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery.

Essential skills and experience:
- Current medical and/or surgical experience within a hospital environment
- Current registration with the HCPC or NMC (UK) and ongoing CPD
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant clinical standards in a surgical environment
- The ability to scrub for more than one speciality.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Excellent customer care skills
- A good standard of computer literacy
- The ability to work within a team
- The ability to time-manage effectively
- Willingness to be flexible during periods of low activity and work extra hours where required
- Excellent communication and organisational skills and be flexible in your work to cover a busy unit with plans for further development within surgery.

(3) Receptionist

This role will work as part of our current Reception team to support the high standard of patient care delivered throughout The Centre:
- Greeting patients on arrival, checking them into the correct clinics and ensuring they receive and have filled out the correct paperwork.
- Ensuring the data we hold for patients is accurate and updating records where required.
- Taking payments and maintaining accurate accounting records.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy waiting area.
- Liaising with consultants regarding their clinics.
- Working with the outpatient, theatre and dental teams to create a smooth journey for each patient.
- Answering general enquiries via telephone and transferring relevant calls to different departments.
- General administrative support for the day to day running of The Centre.

The role will cover a staff member on a temporary secondment so will only be required for a fixed term. Flexibility is essential to cover shift patterns from 7am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and Saturday 8am to 4pm. For those looking at part time hours, flexibility is essential to cover periods of holiday or absence.

- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.

About The Westbourne Centre
The Centre has one operating theatre, offering surgery under local anaesthetic with or without sedation for self-pay, insured and NHS patients. Over 30 consultants use the operating theatre, covering a range of specialities including cosmetic surgery, orthopaedics, general surgery, vascular surgery and ophthalmology.

All offers of employment in respect of this appointment will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service. The successful candidates will be subject a 6-month probationary period.

Hours of business at The Westbourne Centre are 8am - 8pm, Monday to Friday and 8am - 4pm on a Saturday.
