Full Biography

Mr Sohail Butt works in Dudley, Stourbridge and Birmingham. He is a specialist in upper limb surgery, arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow and knee, carpal tunnel surgery, Dupuytren's and upper limb trauma.

Mr Sohail Butt MBBS, FRCS (Ed) currently works as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in upper limb surgery, including arthroscopic surgery of the knee at Dudley Group of Hopsitals NHS Trust in the West Midlands since 1996. Mr Butt received his basic surgical training in the South East and Black Country, West Midlands. He passed his FRCS in 1990 and continued with his Orthopaedic training in the Black Country and at St Mary's Hospital in London before being appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon in 1996.

He holds the title of Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham and is also an Associate Professor (overseas faculty) of St George's Medical School in Grenada. He is also an instructor on the AO Fracture Fixation Courses and also a faculty member on the Elbow Arthroplasty Course.

During his training, Mr Butt took the opportunity to visit several UK and international centres and underwent training in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow and knee, including arthroplasty. He has continued to maintain this interest in both the NHS and private sector. He has given lectures to General Practitioner colleagues and also para-medical staff regarding upper limb problems and their management. Mr Butt is currently involved in a nationwide study on Rotator Cuff Repair (UKUFF Study).

Aside from having a broad Orthopaedic practice, including joint replacements of hips and knees, Mr Butt has a special interest in the following:
