Mr Alan Attard - Oral and Maxillofacial

Alan has experience in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He has a specialist interest in dentoalveolar surgery (e.g. wisdom teeth, surgical endodontics, jaw cysts), management of temporomandibular joint and associated disorders, facial trauma and facial deformity.

Academic Background

Alan Attard undertook his training in Dentistry at the University of Malta. Following qualification in 1999, he held posts in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Malta, Guildford and East Grinstead. Subsequently he undertook his training in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Malta, qualifying in 2006. In 2008, Alan commenced a 5 year training programme in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the West Midlands Deanery. On completion of this programme and the speciality examination, he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, FRCS (OMFS), in 2013.


Mr Stephen  Dover - Oral and Maxillofacial

Mr Dovers private practice involves all aspects of surgical dentistry and oral surgery. He has over 20 years experience in oral implantology (dental implants) and examines, lectures and publishes both nationally and internationally on the subject. He routinely performs the bone and soft tissue grafting procedures that are often required to produce the best possible functional and aesthetic outcomes in implant dentistry.

Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery West Midlands Craniofacial Unit, Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Stephen Dover qualified in dentistry from the University of Birmingham in 1980. He then undertook further hospital training in Liverpool and London, passing his Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeon (England) in 1984. After a year working overseas he returned to Birmingham and qualified in medicine in 1989. He completed a general surgery rotation and passed his FRCS in 1992. Stephen then specialised in oral and maxillofacial surgery and following cleft and craniofacial fellowships was appointed as a consultant to both the Queen Elizabeth and Birmingham Children’s Hospitals in 1996. He continues to work in both of these centres where he specialises in the management of complex paediatric and adult facial deformity.


Mr Ross Elledge - Oral and Maxillofacial

Mr Elledge is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with subspecialty interests in skin cancer, temporomandibular disorders and medical education. Academic Background

Mr Elledge graduated in dentistry with distinction at the University of Malta in 2003, placing first in his year. Following a few years working for the state health service in Malta, he relocated to the United Kingdom in 2005, initially working in paediatric dentistry and orthodontics. Following junior posts in Maxillofacial Surgery in the West of Scotland, he completed the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2006. In 2007, he started an accelerated medical degree at the University of Birmingham, completing this in 2010 with distinction, placing first in his year and being awarded the Sir Arthur Thomson Gold Medal and the Chancellor's Prize, awarded annually for outstanding achievement and contributions to the general life of the University. He completed core surgical training in Plastic Surgery and higher surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the West Midlands, training in the whole remit of the specialty and successfully completing his exit Fellowship exams in 2017. He also gained a Masters in Medical Education with distinction from the acclaimed programme at the Centre for Medical Education, University of Dundee. Mr Elledge then rounded off his clinical training with two nationally awarded Training Interface Group (TIG) Fellowships in Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery and the Management of Skin Cancer in Nottingham and Leeds respectively in 2018, prior to taking up the post of Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As well as his clinical activity, he has an academic commitment to the University of Birmingham as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer, coordinating the Human Diseases module in the undergraduate Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree at the University, ensuring that the dentists of the future understand the breadth of infection, pathology, pharmacology, medicine, surgery and therapeutics and preparing them to care for patients holistically in their future careers. He is also both a Senior Academic Tutor and Personal Mentor for undergraduate medical students at the University, sitting on admissions interview panels and exam boards. At a postgraduate level, he is an examiner for the MFDS examinations with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and an Assigned Educational Supervisor for junior trainees. He has co-authored textbooks on subjects as diverse as interview skills for dentists and revision guides for the FRCS(OMFS) exit examination. He regularly publishes in peer-reviewed journals, is an external member of the UNESCO Chair of Bioethics Unit based at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk. He has recently been appointed as an Associate Editor for the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and continues to publish and present his work widely.


Mr Martin Evans - Oral and Maxillofacial

Martin has experience in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, but has a specialist interest in dentoalveolar surgery (e.g. wisdom teeth, jaw cysts) temporomandibular joint disorders, facial trauma and surgery of facial deformity. Mr Martin Evans is an Oral and Maxillofacial and Craniofacial Surgeon with an NHS practice at Birmingham Childrens and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals. Martin undertook his training in Dentistry at the University of Birmingham and then subsequently his medical training at the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff. Having completed his postgraduate training in surgery, including posts in neurosurgery, orthopaedics and general surgery, he obtained his fellowship of The Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS). Following this, he undertook a 5 year training programme in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the West Midlands Deanery. Completion of this programme and the speciality examination resulted in the award of the speciality Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, FRCS (OMFS). On completion of his training, Martin then undertook a Fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery for 12 months at Birmingham Childrens and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals. Martin has been a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 2007 and a member of the Craniofacial Unit, Birmingham since 2010. Martin is active in undergraduate and postgraduate education of Medical and Dental professionals and is an examiner of undergraduate dental students at the University of Birmingham.

Academic Background

Mr Tim Martin is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and treats both NHS and private patients here at The Westbourne Centre. He is also a Consultant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham where he specialises in head and neck cancer and facial reconstruction. Tim qualified in Dentistry in 1988 and worked in a hospital prior to qualifying in Medicine in 1996. While at Medical School Tim completed a Masters degree in Immunology. Tim completed his training programme in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2004 and was appointed as a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon / Head and Neck surgeon at University Hospital Birmingham. Tim has been published widely and has featured in the documentaries “Making Faces” on Channel 5 and in BBC2's “Surgeons: At the Edge of Life”.


Mr Kevin McMillan - Oral and Maxillofacial

Mr McMillan is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who has a specialist interest in craniofacial deformity and trauma as well as the management of vascular anomalies in the head and neck region. Mr McMillan carries out surgical extractions, manages oral medicine conditions and consults for facial/post-traumatic deformity and for vascular anomalies in the head and neck.

Mr McMillan is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and studied medicine at St. George's Hospital Medical School in London and Dentistry at King's College London. He is on the General Medical Council specialist register for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in London and a Member of the Faculty of Dentistry in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He is also a Fellow of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. During his training, Mr McMillan completed a Fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery. Mr McMillan's NHS practice is based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and Birmingham Children's Hospital. Mr McMillan is actively engaged in the training of maxillofacial surgeons and is an educational supervisor for specialist trainees. He has published work in national and international journals and has presented at multiple conferences.


Mr Rhodri Williams - Oral and Maxillofacial

Mr Williams consults on all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery both in adults and children. He is happy to receive referrals for: Dentoalveolar surgery: impacted teeth, tooth exposures, jaw cysts, apicectomies etc, Dental implants and pre implant grafting, Oral medicine: white/red patches, ulcers etc, Facial pain and TMJ disorders, Facial trauma, Facial asymmetry or disproportion, including cheek, chin and nose surgery.

Mr Williams qualified in Dentistry in 1990 and Medicine in 1997. He was awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery (RCS Edin) in 1994 and the Fellowship in Surgery (RCS Eng) in 1999. He trained in a number of units in the UK, was a craniofacial fellow in Birmingham Children’s Hospital before completing his paediatric maxillofacial fellowship in The Royal Melbourne Children’s Hospital, Australia. He was appointed as a consultant in 2005 and his specialist areas of interest include adult and paediatric facial deformity.
